Hello! My name is Potapchik

Have you always loved teddy bears, and thought that you might like having a go at making one of your own? Then what better way to try it out than crochet me!

Yes, Yes! Do it!

You will never regret it!

Everyone needs a first teddy bear.

Do you remember yours?

I’m soft, lightweight, cuddly and all dressed up for a bedtime.

I love to dress-up and with some changes in color and accessories you could make me a Santa suit, a fireman’s outfit, Halloween costume or anything your creativity can think of. I’m cute in any clothes.

I’ll gladly become a best friend to your children and perhaps even adults.

Welcome me into your home!

This pattern is very easy to follow with step-by-step instructions (20 pages with detailed instructions, tips, photos illustrating the process)

Materials and Tools
  • Yarn: Plain Pale pink – for the muzzle and paws. I used JEANS from Yarn Art 50 g 160 m (55% cotton, 45% acrylic) split in 2 plies. -
  • Yarn: Fuzzy – for the body and pajamas. I used Baby from ALPINA 50 g 210 m (53% polyester, 47% bamboo).
  • You will need four colors: white (1.5 skeins for the body), blue, pink and yellow (approx. 1/3 skein each).
  • Some black and white IRIS thread – for nose and eyes.
  • Hook matching the yarn. I used 1 mm (for the muzzle, the nose and the eyes) and 2 mm (for the body and pajamas).
  • Stuffing for the body.
  • Black glass eyes with loops for the pupils (you can use black hemisphere buttons).
  • Sewing needle to join the parts.
  • Sewing thread of matching colors to sew the muzzle, the nose, the ears and the eyes.
  • One thermo sticker for pajamas.
  • Tapestry needle for tightening.

“Hello, I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful pattern.

I just made the bear for my son, who just turned three as his birthday present. I forgot all about the work when I saw him cuddle the bear in the morning. Sasha loves the bear and loves to cuddle and play with his new friend!

Thanks again for a great pattern!”
